Demo Site Installer helps installing a joomla demo site, which can be refreshed frequently by a Cronjob.

Features

  • Creates automatically a backup of the installed demosite and generates a PHP-File which can be added to a Cronjob:
    • If an installation has been detected, the programm asks if you want to reinstall.
    • Creates a database backup.
    • Does a backup of all files and directories.
    • Saves all file and directory permissions.
    • Creates a PHP-File which can be executed with a Cronjob to refresh the demo site frequently.
  • By the refreshing of the demo site
    • Database tables which are not included by the backup get deleted.
    • Files and directories, which are not included in the backup get deleted.
    • Database and all files get refreshed.
    • Permissions of all files and directories get set.
    • Permissions of "configuration.php" are changed to 0644

  • Enable/disable refresh.php
  • Restrict Demosite with password to change demosite
  • Execute refresh.php from demosite backend
  • Change password of demositebackend and demosite

Documentation

Installation of Demo Site Installer

  1. Install the newest version of Joomla (1.5) on your server (e.g. on demosite.yourdomain.com).
  2. Configure the joomla installation (to your requirements).
  3. download demositeinstaller_1.3.0alpha_unzip.zip and unpack it.
  4. copy demositeinstaller.php to the root path of your demosite.
  5. execute demositeinstaller.php (e.g. http://demosite.yourdomain.com/demositeinstaller.php).
  6. Enter user name for demosite backend .htaccess restricted area
  7. Set the password
  8. Press on install button.
  9. Press on the link to the demosite backend (e.g. http://demosite.yourdomain.com/demositeadmin/
  10. Enter your user name and password
